Trying again...

Well I am going to give this blogging thing another shot - another year has passed and I am still shooting as much as possible. Over the last year I've shown at several local galleries and was awarded third place in Steve's Digicams Photo of the Day for March 2008. I've moved my focus more narrowly to macro and nature work (mostly animals). The photo above is titled "Bein Se" (Irish Gaelic for Fairy Woman). Enjoy today! :)

And so it begins...

I've decided to join the 21st Century and attempt to keep a blog that catalogs my adventures through the lens of my camera.

I've been taking photos for as long as I can recall; I was always fascinated by my dad's Canon AE-1 Program camera and started my journey on an old 110 camera with a flash strip. Eventually, I progessed to a 35mm Canon. For years I happily shot with my trusty Canon Rebel - until, that is, I tasted the sweet poison that is digital photography. I was a film girl, tried and true. I loved the sound the shutter made and loved the smell of new film but went to the dark side in 2004 when I purchased a Pentax Optio 450. This was just a point and shoot digi-cam but it served me well for three years. For Christmas of 2007 my husband bought me a Pentax K10D DSLR. I've since added several lenses and finally feel like my 'collection' is complete (at least for the time being). I am still working to find my photographic 'niche' but lately I've been trending towards fine art pieces, portraiture and hand-colored photographs. I enjoy photographing nature and children the most.

I do hope you'll enjoy seeing things through my eyes and look forward to hearing your feedback on my photo work. If you are interested in working with me, please see my profile for my contact information.
